When you're standing waiting for a new cell phone, turning one in for a new smart phone, and you're asked by the salesman if you have a drivers license, how much you weigh, color of eyes, hair, Social Security no., any distinguishing body marks, (at this point I walked away with the words Fourth Amendment Violation floating back over my shoulder), and then be asked for a thumb print for the law enforcement database, to prove the phone you were turning in wasn't stolen, even after you've paid for the contract for four years, you understand a tiny bit how much our Constitution has been eviscerated.
I would have simply walked out and gotten one on eBay.
This was a chain. I was getting huffy. But it wasn't my phone. Oddly, salesman said that young people are not bending and do the same as I would have, but older people let it slide.
The item was an Apple iphone - a trade-in for a new one.
Unfortunately, you cannot escape this, so be prepared to COMPLY (but I suppose that inadvertently, you could smudge that reader a little).
Does this bother you?
I'd love to hear your comments.
